A Forest Hike
One afternoon, Marley and Vern enter the forest. They wander through short grass, blooming flowers, and large trees.
Marley and Vern stop by a river. Marley points to a furry critter on the far side of the river.
"I think that's a beaver," Marley says. They see the beaver turn toward the shore. It starts to chew on some tree bark.
Slowly, the tree gets thinner.
Marley warns Vern, "Let's go so we don't get hurt."
Marley and Vern start to walk. Splash! They hear the tree fall into the water.
Later on, Vern sees a pair of horned larks chirping on a tree branch. They watch the birds hunt for some earthworms.
"We are so lucky today!" Marley says.
