Dwight D. Eisenhower was the 34th president, serving two terms, from 1953 to 1961. He was born in Texas, raised in Kansas, and served for several decades in the U.S. Army. As president, he guided the United States through the early years of the Cold War and oversaw a great expansion of the country's population and economy during the 1950s.
