TheMiddleColonies made up the middle part of the Thirteen Colonies, which were ruled by England in the 1600s and 1700s. It included four separate colonies:
Delaware was located at the mouth of the Delaware River. It was directly east of Maryland.
NewJersey lay between the Delaware River and the Atlantic Ocean.
NewYork consisted of Long Island, which extended out into the Atlantic Ocean, as well as land on both sides of the Hudson River.
Pennsylvania stretched from the Delaware River in the east to the Appalachian Mountains to the west.
