Thomas Edison was born a long time ago. Back then, life was very different. People did not have machines like TVs, phones, or computers.

Thomas was a curious child who loved to learn. He enjoyed reading books about science. When he was young, he started making and testing things. He liked to know how things worked.

Thomas wanted to be an inventor. An inventor is a person who makes new things. These new things fix problems and make life easier.

One new thing that Thomas made is called the phonograph. A phonograph records and plays sounds. People liked listening to music on the phonograph.

How was life different when Thomas Edison was growing up?

People had televisions, but the screens were very small.

People did not have many things we have today, like phones.

Some people had computers, but some people did not.
