Easter is a holiday in the Christian religion. On Easter, Christians remember a story about Jesus of Nazareth. Christians believe Jesus is the son of God. Jesus lived about 2,000 years ago. He lived in a part of the Middle East that was ruled by the Roman Empire. Many people in that area listened to his teachings. The Romans thought that the ideas Jesus was teaching would make people stop obeying Roman leaders. So they decided to kill Jesus.

In the story of Easter, Jesus was buried in a cave. Three days after Jesus died, some of his followers went to the cave. But his body was not there. The followers heard that Jesus had come back to life. Jesus appeared and spoke to some of his followers. Later, Jesus went to live with God in heaven.

Easter is one of the most important holidays in Christianity. Christians believe that, because Jesus died and came back to life, other people will also be able to go to heaven when they die.
