This Nativity scene painting shows the three kings visiting Mary, Joseph, and Jesus.
Christmas is an important Christian holiday. On Christmas, many people celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. He is also called Jesus of Nazareth. He lived years ago in the Middle East. Christians believe that Jesus is the Son of God.

The story of Jesus's birth starts with a woman named Mary. An angel visited Mary and told her that she was going to have a baby. The angel told Mary to name her son Jesus. Later, Mary and her husband, Joseph, traveled to a city called Bethlehem. When they got there, there was nowhere for them to stay. They had to sleep in a barn where the animals were kept. While Mary and Joseph were in Bethlehem, Jesus was born. They made a bed for him in a manger, which is a tub that animals eat from.
Angels visited people nearby to tell them about the special new baby. A bright star appeared in the sky. Three kings, sometimes called wise men, followed the star to find baby Jesus. When the three kings found him, they celebrated Jesus's birth by giving special, rare gifts. They gave him gold, a shiny yellow metal that is often used for jewelry. They also gave him frankincense and myrrh, which are used as medicine or perfume.
