Rosa Parks when she worked in the Civil Rights Movement
Rosa Parks was a Black woman born in Alabama in 1913. During this time, Alabama was segregated by race. Segregated means that Black people were kept apart from white people. Black people were not allowed to use the same schools, churches, or libraries as white people. Black people could get in trouble for being in places where only white people were allowed. This made life very unfair for Black people.
