Susan B. Anthony when she was 28 years old

Susan B. Anthony was born in 1820. When she was growing up, women were not treated the same as men. Women were not allowed to do things that men could do.

When Susan was little, she loved to learn. She read lots of books and worked hard in school. But many girls could not go to school. They had to stay home to help around the house. Susan did not think that was fair.

Susan B. Anthony grew up and became a teacher. At that time, men got paid more money than women. Men who were teachers got 10 dollars a month. But women only got 2 dollars. Susan B. Anthony thought that was wrong. She wanted women to be paid fairly.

Back then, only men could vote. When you vote, you help pick a leader. Susan B. Anthony wanted more leaders who would treat women fairly. So, she worked to change the law so women could vote too.

How were women treated when Susan B. Anthony was growing up?
