A city hires a group of engineers to build a new footbridge across a river. The bridge must span the river, which is about 350 feet wide. The engineers develop a few possible designs for the new bridge, and they present their ideas to the city. City council members choose the design that provides enough space for people on bikes and on foot. The engineers then create a three-dimensional model of the bridge. Once this model is complete, the engineers send it to the city council for final approval before construction can begin.
