Listen and read along with the passage about tornadoes.
Most tornadoes look like big, dark ice cream cones. But tornadoes aren't something people are happy to see.

Tornadoes are made up of very strong winds. The wind reaches all the way from the ground to a cloud in the sky. It spins quickly in circles and makes tornadoes move.

Tornadoes move very fast from one place to another. Some tornadoes move along the ground for a few seconds. Other tornadoes can keep moving for as long as three hours.

Tornadoes can be bad for the places they pass through. Their heavy winds can rip trees out of the ground. They can even flip over trains and throw cars through the air!
