Spelling can be a little tricky sometimes, but there are a few strategies that can help you.

One strategy is to think about the syllables in a word. For example, think about the syllables in athlete and

daffodil.

Another strategy is to think about the parts in a word. For example, think about the parts in

powerless,

and

disruptive.

Sometimes words are spelled differently than they sound. Try spelling the word a few different ways and see which one looks like a word you've seen in books.
