Sort each word by its prefix.

When spelling longer words, it can be helpful to break them into meaningful parts—like prefixes that can appear at the beginning of words.

For example, the prefix in- appears in words like these:

inquire

install

The prefix ex- appears in words like these:

export

explain

The prefix mid- appears in words like these:

midmorning

midway

To spell, think about each part of the word on its own. Then, put them together.

in + quire → inquire

ex + port → export

mid + morning → midmorning

The words midweek and midterm both start with the prefix mid-.

The words inquire, inhale, and indented start with the prefix in-.

The word expression starts with the prefix ex-.
