The planet Earth is made up of a number of different layers. The deepest layer is the core. The core is extremely hot and contains molten metals. The outer layer is the crust, which is where we live. Between the core and the crust is a layer called the mantle. The mantle is the biggest of Earth's layers. The mantle contains both solid and melted rocks.
