Tap dancing and clogging are two different styles of dance that have a lot in common. In both dance styles, dancers wear shoes with metal plates on the bottom. They tap their feet in certain rhythms to make different sound patterns. Cloggers and tap dancers both dance in groups or solo. Both forms of dance started in Europe, but they came to the United States in different ways. Clogging became a folk dance in the Appalachian Mountains. Tap dancing, meanwhile, was brought to New York City. It became quite popular in the 1900s thanks to show business.
These two styles of dances developed differently, but they are alike in many ways.
