When two letters come together to make one sound, they are called a digraph.

These are some common digraphs:

When the letters ng go together in a word, they make the sound ng like in king, rang, song, and sung.

When the letters nk go together in a word, they make the sound nk like in wink, bank, and sunk.

In English, the letter q is always followed by the letter u. Together, qu makes the sound /kw/, like at the beginning of the word quit.

The letter x is one letter that can spell the sound /ks/, like at the end of the word fix.

The letters g-r-a-p-h spell the word graph.
