Dear Susan,
Your three years of tireless effort, your sharp editorial eye, and your professional, congenial attitude have made a strong impression on the executive team. I am pleased to inform you that you have been promoted from assistant editor to editor.
This position comes with a 35% pay raise and your own office on the third floor. There are also new responsibilities, including managing junior editorial staff and selecting which scientific papers we will publish in our journal.
In addition, you will be responsible for creating the agenda for and running the weekly editorial and scheduling meetings.
Executive Editor Dana Rittendale is your new supervisor. Please contact her directly for an onboarding discussion, during which she can give you specific details about your new duties. Eric Weaver will be taking over your old role and will be reaching out to you for onboarding and training. He will take your old desk on the second floor.
Congratulations! We all look forward to working with you in your new capacity.
Best regards,
Renée Hawkins
