Campfire Surprise

Layla and her dad sat around the campfire. "Want to make s'mores?" Dad asked.

Layla looked upset. "I do, but these bugs won't leave me alone!" she cried.

"Let's go inside," Dad said.

"We should," Layla said with a sigh. "But I love how the campfire looks. It's so cozy."

Dad thought for a moment."I know!" he said. "Let's make a campfire inside!"

Layla followed him inside the house, confused. Dad handed her some flashlights. "Put these in a circle and turn them on," he said, disappearing into the kitchen.

Layla put the flashlights in a circle. "What is Dad up to?" she thought.

He came back with warm s'mores from the microwave. When he switched off the lights, the flashlights glowed like fire.

"You always have the best ideas, Dad!" Layla said.

It's Okay, Fiona!

BAM! POP!

Wyatt watches the fireworks outside his window. "Aren't fireworks beautiful?" he asks his new dog, Fiona.

But when he looks back, Fiona is under his bed. She cries, eyes wide.

Wyatt tries to get her to come out, but Fiona won't move. "Dad," calls Wyatt. "Can you help me with Fiona?"

Dad comes in and sits next to the bed. He pets Fiona, but she keeps shaking.

"It's okay, Fiona," Wyatt says.

"Let's try something else," Dad says.

Dad turns on Wyatt's favorite song. He turns up the music until it's loud enough to cover the sound of the fireworks. Wyatt and Dad sing and dance.

Soon, Fiona crawls out from under the bed, tail wagging.

Wyatt smiles and says, "Come join the party, Fiona."
